Year 400, Day 129
The day began with the Economic Trade Committee meeting at the town hall. The grandeur of the building, with its tall columns, never fails to impress me. Percival arrived early, as usual, and we engaged in a brief chat. His knowledge of Willowgrove’s economy is commendable, and I always enjoy our discussions.
I was excited to present my sustainable trading plan to the committee. The plan, which I’ve been working on for months, aims to open up trade with other states while still protecting Willowgrove’s economy. I was aware that it would be met with some hesitation, especially from the more conservative members like the general store owner. However, I believe in the potential of this plan and its ability to bring about a positive change in our community.
The meeting took an unexpected turn when the topic of appointing a leader for the upcoming trade expedition came up. The expedition is the biggest one since the failed attempt 20 years ago, and the decision was crucial. Percival was a strong contender, but to everyone’s surprise, Everett was chosen. Despite being the newest member of the committee, Everett has shown great promise in setting up relations with nearby towns. I believe in Everett’s capabilities, but I couldn’t help but feel for Percival. His disappointment was palpable, and I hope he finds the strength to overcome this setback.
After the meeting, Everett and I had dinner at his house. It was a quiet affair, with both of us lost in our thoughts. Everett was grappling with the enormity of the task ahead, and I could sense his trepidation. I tried to reassure him, reminding him of his accomplishments so far. I believe in his ability to lead this expedition successfully.
As I retire for the night, my mind is filled with thoughts about the day’s events. The decisions made today will have far-reaching consequences for Willowgrove. I can only hope that we’ve made the right choices. As I often do in times of uncertainty, I find solace in the comforting world of literature and the greenhouse. They remind me of my roots and ground my thoughts, providing me with the strength to face the challenges ahead.
Tomorrow is a new day, and I am ready to face it with resilience and determination. For now, I will retreat into the world of books, finding solace in their pages as I prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
